  • Holiday Team Challenge & Free body comp analysis

  • Schedule updates

  • Katie's extra classes

The stretch between late October and mid-December can get busy fast. Schedules fill up, holiday plans start taking shape, and it becomes very easy for workouts to slide to “I’ll get back to it later.”

This year, we are making it easier, more fun, and a little more competitive to keep showing up.

Our Holiday Team Challenge runs from October 19 through December 11, and there is still time to join. You do not need to have a team formed. Just let us know you want in, and we will add you to an open team!

The goal is simple: come to class, support your teammates, and build steady momentum before the end of the year.

The team with the most points at the end wins prizes!

Here is how the scoring works:

How to earn points

Points earned

Attend class

1 point for your team

All team members attend the same class together

5 bonus points

The challenge is also a good reset if you have been away for a bit. You do not have to “get back in shape” before joining. Class is the place to start. Your presence counts from day one!

Save on a 10 class pack through October 24

To celebrate the start of the Team Challenge, we are running a class pack sale through this week.

Our 10 class pack is $100 through October 24, instead of the regular price of $120.

Challenge participants can get a free body comp analysis

As part of the Holiday Team Challenge, participants can receive a free body comp analysis.

This can be a helpful snapshot if you like having more information as you work toward your goals. A body comp analysis can give you a starting point and help you look beyond the number on the scale.

If you are interested in the free body comp analysis, please contact Katie, or let you class instructor know.

You do not have to do a body comp analysis to participate in the challenge. It is simply an added option for those who want it.

New and returning classes are on the schedule

The challenge is also bringing a few schedule updates, including one new class and one returning favorite.

Tuesday evening Women’s Strength Training with Brittany

We have added a Tuesday evening 5:30 pm Women’s Strength Training class with Brittany for the challenge.

This is a great option if evenings work better for your schedule or if you want to build strength in a supportive class setting. Strength training is also a smart match for the season because it helps you stay grounded in a routine when life gets full.

If you have not tried a strength class before, this is a welcoming place to begin. You can move at your own level, use weights that make sense for you, and build confidence as you go.

If you already love strength training, this gives you one more chance to earn points for your team during the week!

Thursday evening yoga is back

The Thursday 5:15 pm yoga class is back on the schedule.

This is good news for anyone who has missed having a later yoga option. It is also a nice complement to strength classes, Pilates, and stressful weeks in general.

Yoga can be a good place to slow down, breathe, stretch, and reset. During the challenge, it also counts toward your team’s points, so it may be the perfect way to close out a Thursday while still helping your team move up the board.

Katie’s upcoming McCook Community College classes

Katie also has several classes coming up through McCook Community College this fall and winter. These are separate from the Holiday Team Challenge, but they are great opportunities to learn something new, try a hands-on skill, or explore a new area of wellness.

Here is what is coming up:

Date

Class

Why you might enjoy it

November 13

Learn the basics of working with sourdough and gain confidence making a simple loaf

December 10

Explore herbal tea in a seasonal, approachable way. Sample teas and take home your own blend

January 14

A great class for anyone curious about Reformer Pilates

The January 14 Intro to Reformer class is especially helpful if you have wondered whether reformer Pilates is right for you. It gives you a chance to learn the basics in a beginner-friendly setting before jumping into a regular class.

The sourdough and herbal tea classes also fit nicely into the fall and winter season. They offer a different kind of wellness, one that happens at home, in the kitchen, and in everyday routines. Register for these classes through MCC's Business and Community Education department here. Or call them at 308-344-8604. When registering online, us the "Find a Course" search tool.
